Knee surgery still a possibility for Seahawks tight end Will Dissly

Seattle Seahawks tight end Will Dissly suffered a knee injury during the team’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and was subsequently placed on the injured reserve. Coach Pete Carroll was asked about the status of the tight end during his wrap-up press conference on Monday.

“This is one we don’t know,” Carroll told reporters. “What they’re doing right now is they’re waiting to see how he heals in regards to surgery. Does he need surgery or not? We don’t know that yet. I think they said it was going to be a couple of months of rehab to see if just heals up so they don’t have to go in and do something.”

While the exact nature of Dissly’s injury remains unclear, Carroll was able to provide some reassuring information.

“We’ve never had the injury before – I can’t tell you what it is – but it’s in an unusual place and an unusual return, because we don’t have a background on it,” he said. “So we’ll just wait and see. He’s doing well, he’s making progress and all of that. He’s feeling more comfortable; he’s not on the crutches as much, but we’re not going to know for a while.”
