Kirstie Alley looked full of life in video just 12 weeks before her shock death from cancer

Kirstie Alley was praised for looking well by fans just 12 weeks before she died from cancer.

The actress, best known for her breakout role as Rebecca Howe in US sitcom Cheers, only recently discovered she had cancer.

And just 12 weeks ago, she was still entertaining fans on Instagram by offering "I want a divorce" video messages to fans on Cameo.

Appearing on Instagram with her glossy blonde hair perfectly styled and a glamorous red manicure, the 71-year-old actress looked full of life.

"Hi it's me Kirstie and a bunch of you have asked me to do these greetings and I always do what you ask me to do," she told fans.

"I just had a new baby by the way," she joked as a child could be heard in the background.

"I know I'm a little old for a new kid but congratulations to me I say.

"Anyway if you want something funny or something sincere I and I'll really try to be sincere but you know, sort of like, 'hi I love you' or 'Merry Christmas' or 'I want a divorce'.

"Whatever you need, I'll deliver it."

Fans rushed to tell Kirstie how well she looked and Love Island star Gabby Allen commented: "Ong you look AMAZING,". [sic]

"She really does!" another added.

"Good to see your face," a third wrote.

Since her shock death, another fan asked: "How did she die from cancer in 12 weeks? There's no way."

Earlier today, in a statement released on the star's social media accounts, her children True and Lillie Parker said she was surrounded by her closest family at her time of death.

It read: "To all our friends, far and wide around the world... We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered.

"She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother."

The statement went on to share the family's gratitude for those who had cared for her in her final days before praising Kirstie's attitude to life.

"We are grateful to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at the Moffitt Cancer Center for their care. Our mother's zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did."

They concluded by sharing their thanks for "your love and prayers".
