Kirkcudbright Rotary Club launches Christmas Advent book draw

Christmas is coming early to Kirkcudbright.

The town’s rotary club has come up with the idea of an advent book which will work just like an advent calendar.

Each book will have a number and for each day from December 1 to 24 there will be a draw using the numbers.

The club asked local businesses and individuals to donate a prize or voucher for the draw and received an amazing response, despite the financial pressures faced during this difficult year.

Multiple prizes are on offer each day with money raised being split equally between Kirkcudbright Youth project and providing clean water for rural farmers in Sri Lanka.

Books cost five pounds each or £20 for five.

They will be available throughout November from Thomsons Newsagents, Rhubarb Home and Gifts, Jake’s Pottery and Coffee Shop and The Corner Gallery.

The club hopes to bring some joy in these trying times while raising money for two worthwhile causes thanks to the generosity of so many local people.
