Kirkcudbright Primary pupils visit West Coast Sea Products fish factory

Twenty-nine P2 pupils from Kirkcudbright Primary recently visited the fish factory at West Coast Sea Products.

Their trip followed on from P3 visiting the week before, everyone enjoying a super tour led by Stuart King.

The children saw how the newly caught scallops are landed at the harbour, transported to the factory and then processed into the end product. They saw king scallops being taken out of their shells by amazing people who can cut a scallop out really fast and queenies which had been taken out by machine.

They also saw king scallops being frozen, queenies being packed up and even had the whole class weighed on a massive scale outside.

One of the best parts was the magic fridge door which opens just by using your voice.

It was a very interesting visit and thanks go to Stuart and everyone there.
