Kirby Smart optimistic about Zamir White

Last August, freshman UGA running back Zamir White tore his ACL just after he had finished recovering from the same injury in his other knee. The news was obviously devastating for both White and the UGA program as a whole, but now, it appears as though White is right on track to be able to contribute to the Dawgs in a big way in 2019.

Head coach Kirby Smart spoke about the running back at SEC Media Day on Tuesday.

“We are excited about where he is. He’s done everything we’ve asked him to do,” said Smart. “I am thrilled at how hard he works and the things he’s been able to do, so our expectation is that he comes out and competes every day and earns some playing time.”

With a healthy White to compliment a backfield that already features elite tailbacks like D’Andre Swift and Brian Herrien, UGA should have no problems dominating the rushing game in 2019.
