Kips Bay Decorator Show House returns to New York City in May – taking over this 'iconic' four-story Manhattan townhouse

The celebrated national design event, Kips Bay Decorator Show House, has announced its return to New York City for its forty-ninth annual Show House in May – a key date in the interior design calendar.

Unveiling its location for 2024 as the iconic Upper East Side townhouse at 125 East 65th Street in Manhattan, the property will be transformed by a group of the best interior designers, who are yet to be announced.

Built in 1910, the townhouse was originally designed by esteemed American architect Charles Platt – who famously designed homes for the Roosevelt and Astor families – and was previously home to many well-known figures including magazine magnate Henry Luce.

The impressive red brick, four-story townhouse is of a neo-Georgian style and spans over 12,000 square feet; comprising 12-foot ceilings, five bedrooms, and a striking 35-foot-wide garden. The townhouse boasts a sense of classic grandeur with ample architectural features that will undoubtedly be a dream for the designers, including paneling, mantelpieces, and herringbone flooring.

The celebrated interior designers and architects will embark on transforming the elegant property, ahead of its opening to the public in May.

The design-centric event is hosted by Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, an organization working to provide young people with educational programs in the city, for which the event will raise funds.

'We are thrilled to return to New York at the heart of creativity and our community,' says James Druckman, President of the Board at Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. 'This annual celebration of design not only transforms spaces but also transforms lives, supporting the invaluable programs that empower and uplift the youth in our community.'

From May 2nd, 2024, the New York City Show House will open for public viewing. Tickets can be purchased at the Kips Bay Decorator Show House website.
