The studio also reiterated that the game will continue as a full open-world RPG, maintaining the series' focus on realism, survival mechanics, and story-driven progression.
While specific gameplay details remain under wraps, Warhorse indicated that the project is targeting fiscal year 2027 for release, placing it within a 2027–2028 launch window.
New Creative Leadership for the Franchise
According to GameRant, the upcoming installment will be led by new creative director Prokop Jirsa, who previously worked as a lead designer on earlier entries in the series. His appointment is expected to ensure continuity while also expanding gameplay systems and world-building depth.
Meanwhile, longtime developer Viktor Bocan has shifted to a separate role overseeing Warhorse's upcoming Middle-earth-related project.
Despite branching into new intellectual properties, the studio has emphasized that "Kingdom Come" remains a core focus.
Warhorse Expands Beyond Its Medieval RPG Franchise
In addition to game development, Warhorse Studios has confirmed plans for a film adaptation of the "Kingdom Come" universe, signaling a more expansive transmedia expansion.
The studio has also secured rights to develop "The Lord of the Rings" game. We might see more large-scale licensed projects beyond its original medieval RPG identity.
