King County won’t press charges against Geno Smith over DUI arrest

According to a report by Brady Henderson at ESPN, the King County Prosecutor’s Office has decided not to press charges against Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith stemming from his arrest in January 2022 on suspicion of DUI.

Smith was arrested the night after (2:10 a.m.) the team’s final game of the season against the Cardinals.

The police report stated Smith was “agitated” during his encounter with law enforcement and had been driving 96 mph in a 60 mph zone.

Not long after, Smith shared a message on Twitter asking for fans to hold back on judging him.

According to Henderson’s reporting, Smith’s blood alcohol level was found to be well below the legal limit in Washington State. Apparently, a backlog in blood tests caused the delay.

We will update this story with any further statements from Smith on the matter.
