Kind-hearted Stewartry youngster hands out more than £100 worth of toys as early Christmas present

A group of pals helped feed more than 200 people at the weekend.

Helen Gordon from Springholm and Joy Elliott, Virginia Rennie and Lynne Ferguson held Mission Christmas at the Salvation Army in Glasgow.

It was the second year they’ve organised the event, which is in tribute to Helen’s on George who passed away in November last year.

Helen, who works at Springholm Primary, said: “It was absolutely amazing. We fed 225 people altogether.

“My 10-year-old granddaughter, Kyla Diamond, saved up £125 and bought toys over the year that we gave out as well.

“The people there were delighted with everything, including the hampers that we made up for the old folk.”

Thanks go to Springholm Primary, Tesco in Castle Douglas ACAD for their support.
