The parents of a young man who died after falling out of a bed and banging his head on the floor while undergoing hormone therapy at a state-run clinic in Bangkok's Thon Buri district have asked the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) for help in speeding the case up.

Surasak Yonok, 40, and his wife, Kaewkannikar Johjit arrived at the CSD on Thursdayto complain about the slow progress of the investigation into the death their son, 20-year-old Thornthorn Yonok.

On Dec 8 he was receiving hormone injections at the clinic when he went into a convulsion, fell out of the treatment bed and hit the floor hard.

The couple filed a complaint with the Nong Kang Phlu police the next day.

Ms Kaewkannikar said Thornthorn had been developing at an unusually slow rate of growth. In 2015 doctors found a tumour in his brain that was responsible for his retarded physical development.

The family consulted specialists at Siriraj Hospital, who reportedly recommended Thornthorn undergo the hormone stimulation treatment to help with his condition. The family later took him to the clinic in the Thon Buri area to receive more injections.

Thornthorn had been going to the clinic regularly since 2015 to get the hormone injections.

An autopsy revealed he died from a brain haemorrhage, according to Ms Kaewkannikar.

She said the family visited the local police several times to inquire about progress in the case but little headway has been made.

CSD chief investigator Pol Lt Gen Supachai Chartmontri said the CSD has accepted for consideration the family's inquiry about the slow pace of the investigation.

The inquiry will be passed to the CSD's complaint centre to assess further action, he said.
