Kim Kardashian asks Twitter boss to add edit button at Kanye West's birthday party

Two weeks after meeting US President Donald Trump to talk about prison reform, reality TV star Kim Kardashian West revealed on Twitter that she has been lobbying once again – this time with one of Silicon Valley's most influential tech figures.

Kardashian West claimed she might have persuaded Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to introduce an edit feature for tweets, sparking anger among Twitter users.

"I had a very good convo with @jack this weekend at Kanye's bday and I think he really heard me out on the edit button," Kardashian West tweeted on Wednesday.

Mr Dorsey replied:"Now I see why I was invited!"

The issue of whether Twitter should allow users to edit tweets that have already been published is a contentious one among the platform's users.

Some argue that allowing people to edit tweets would lead to confusion if a widely shared tweet is later edited to contain contradictory information.

Mr Dorsey has been hinting at introducing an editing feature for several years, following considerable pressure from other users who see it as a necessary evolution of the service.

Advocates for an edit button say an option to see revision history would help prevent confusion and the spread of false information.

"A form of edit is def needed," Mr Dorsey tweeted in 2016, in response to hundreds of requests for the feature, adding that his company was "thinking a lot about it."

Twitter did not respond to a request for comment.
