Kilwinning Rangers scrap plans for glamour Abbey Park farewell

Kilwinning Rangers have abandoned plans for a glamour friendly to bid a final farewell to Abbey Park.

The club had hoped to attract top Scottish opposition for one last hurrah at their spiritual home before a summer move to Kilwinning Sports Club.

But after failing to find a club able to take part in an end-of-season affair, Buffs’ final game at Abbey Park will now be a league clash against Auchinleck Talbot on Wednesday, May 8.

Chairman Colin Boyd admitted: “We spoke to a few clubs but it was clear that it just wasn’t going to happen.

“The Talbot game will be the last here and in terms of Junior games you couldn’t ask for better opposition.

“It’s going to be an emotional occasion for everyone at the club before we move on to another exciting chapter in our history.”
