Kilmarnock v Celtic: Two further arrests made from February clash taking total to seven

Two further arrests have been made in connection with Kilmarnock's clash with Celtic at Rugby Park in February, taking the total to seven.

Ayrshire police officers have continued with their enquiries following incidents of alleged disorder that occurred during the game, and have been working alongside officials at Rugby Park and other partners to identify those responsible.

On Thursday, May 2, officers from Ayrshire Police Division carried out a further co-ordinated operation with colleagues from across Scotland.

Sergeant Iain Farmer from East Ayrshire Priority Policing Team said: "Officers from Ayrshire Division have been working closely with colleagues throughout Police Scotland in order to arrest those involved in the acts of disorder which occurred during the Kilmarnock v Celtic football fixture.

"Police Scotland will not tolerate such behaviour during football fixtures, these events are highly attended by families and the conduct of the small minority on the day poses a real health and safety risk. This is now the seventh person arrested in relation to this Operation.

"I would like to highlight the dangers that can be caused by this type of behaviour at football matches and I encourage the small minority to think of those families around them.

"Police Scotland will continue to work closely with partners to bring those responsible to justice."
