Kilmainham Gaol to reopen to visitors this Sunday after Covid-19 closure

Kilmainham Gaol will reopen to visitors this Sunday after months of shutdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The historic Gaol is one of Dublin's most popular historical landmarks.

Many Irish revolutionaries, including the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising, were held within the walls of the infamous prison on the Inchicore Road.

A statement read: "We are really and truly delighted to announce that we will be welcoming visitors back to Kilmainham Gaol this Sunday, 26 July.

"This is a partial re-opening, which means that many areas of the building will still be closed to the public.

"We have also had to reduce the size of tours, so places are limited.

"Tickets must be pre-booked online, and all visitors including children under 12, are required to have a ticket.

"Please do not travel to Kilmainham Gaol if you have not pre-booked tickets.

"Full details on how to book and the special provisions in place are available on our website  www.kilmainhamgaolmuseum.ie.

"Looking forward to seeing you!"
