A NSW man accused of murdering his girlfriend's friend sat around a campfire and said "that chick was up to no good so I killed her and I'd do it again", according to a witness.
Justin Dilosa and his former girlfriend Carol McHenry are on trial for the murder of Danielle Easey, 29, whose body was found in a creek wrapped in a protective suit, doona, plastic and a layer of duct tape in August 2019.
Dilosa and McHenry point the finger at each other, claiming the other attacked and fatally wounded Ms Easey.
However, an ex-girlfriend of Dilosa on Wednesday said that several days after the alleged murder, Dilosa confessed to the homicide in front of a group of his friends
"(He said) you know I love you guys and I want to tell you this before you hear from anyone else, that chick was no good and she was going to hurt my friends, I killed her and I would do it again," Bronte Daley told the court.
About the same time, Ms Daley witnessed an argument between the two.
"It was very heated," she said.
"I picked up (McHenry) saying to (Dilosa) something like 'I'll let them know it was all you and you'll go away for 20 years'."
According to Ms Daley and her partner Jacob Collins - another friend of Dilosa - the accused was also known to carry around a black hunting knife.
"He would do tricks and spin the knife around," Ms Daley said.
"He took it with him pretty much most of the time."
While Ms Daley said she hadn't seen the knife since the alleged murder, Mr Collins gave evidence the knife was thrown in the campfire.
Mr Collins said several days later, he asked Dilosa why his van smelt so bad to which he responded: "What do you think is in there."
Soon after Ms Easey's body was found, Dilosa slipped them a handwritten note alerting them to the police investigation, the couple told the court.
"He wrote it on a piece of paper, I think it was 'they found the body' and then he said something like 'I did it because she was going to f*** a lot of people up'," Ms Daley said.
Both ice users and addicts at the time, Ms Daley and Mr Collins were pressed on their recollection and both conceded their memories were foggy.
A colleague of Dilosa's who has been sentenced as an accessory after the fact also testified that each accused claimed responsibility for the murder.
"I asked her (McHenry) what happened and she said she stabbed her," Jeremy Princehorn said.
"Then later on (Dilosa) said he stabbed her."
The trial continues.
