Kill the Bill protest in Briggate, Leeds city centre, to be held today

A Kill the Bill protest is taking place in Leeds city centre this afternoon.

Demonstrations against the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts bill are happening all over the country today.

The bill details more than 300 pages of draft legislation, including a section on public order and protests, and will allow police to take a more proactive approach in managing protests that are causing serious disruption.

Labour MP Dawn Butler shared information on today's protests on Twitter and posted a video in which she said: "If this new policing bill goes through, you won't be able to campaign, you won't be able to protest, you won't be able to raise your voice, you won't be able to join other people who are saying, 'this is wrong'."
