Kieran Trippier admits his Atletico Madrid move is the fulfillment of his desire to play abroad.
The England international completed his move from Tottenham on Wednesday for £21.7million - and he was unveiled by the Spanish giants on Thursday.
While many have seen the move as an exile from north London, Trippier sees it as a massive opportunity.
“This is an amazing feeling - I’ve always wanted to play abroad and what a place to play, in Madrid.
“They have a fantastic team and an unbelievable manager and I’m just looking forward to getting on with it now and meeting the team.
“We know they’ve been to some major finals, they’ve done so well in La Liga over the years - they have a quality team and a magnificent Coach.”
Twenty-eight year-old Trippier has become the Spanish club’s first English player in 95 years after signing a three-year deal.
His move ends a four-year spell at Spurs after joining from Burnley in June 2015 and playing more than 100 times.
He joined his new team-mates on Wednesday night in Spain and is aiming now to impress boss Diego Simeone.
He went on: “Something that I can work to do is work with the manager, learn from the manager and help the team to be a success in the future.
“We’ve got some world-class players in the team. The manager, you can tell how close he has been over the years with the squad.
“I cannot wait to be part of this and obviously learn from the manager and work under him, I’ll do everything for the team and give my all and for sure I’ll do that for Atletico."
A key man in England's run to the last four of the 2018 World Cup, scoring the opening goal in the semi-final defeat to Croatia, Trippier's form dipped during the course of the 2018/19 campaign.
But the former Manchester City trainee still made 38 appearances across all competitions as Spurs finished fourth and made it all the way to the Champions League final at Atletico's Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
He will now call the Spanish capital home, with Atleti signing the right-back they were seeking having released the experienced Juanfran after his contract expired this summer.
