Kieran Tierney handed 'fantastic' verdict from pundit and why Arsenal exit destination blocked

Kieran Tierney is a 'fantastic' football player according to former Rangers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton.

But the Scot is unlikely to make the move to Villa Park from Arsenal claims the pundit. The 25-year-old's future has been somewhat in question this season with only four appearances made for the high-flying Gunners. Mikel Arteta's men are pushing for the title and despite a promise for squad rotation, the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko have held down the fort in the starting eleven.

Tierney's £25million plus move from boyhood club Celtic in 2019 was welcomed by the Arsenal faithful and the Scot has made over 100 appearances in London but it appears he may look to move on in the summer. Reports suggest Newcastle United are keen on the left-back while Villa have also been touted.

But former Villians defender Hutton insists his old side have the cover needed in his position and that Tierney wouldn't unseat the current options. He also believes the 25-year-old has been luckless with injuries.

He told Football Insider: “I would love to see Tierney at Aston Villa. I think he’s a fantastic player that has been really unlucky with how it’s worked out at Arsenal.

“Injuries haven’t helped and Zinchenko has been absolutely flying since arriving in the summer. It’s been very difficult for Tierney.

"I’d like to see him at Villa Park but I can’t see it happening after they spent a lot of money on Moreno. They also have Lucas Digne there, so it’s difficult.

“I think £30million is a fair price, but I see Newcastle more willing to spend than Villa.“
