Kieran Tierney and Giorgos Giakoumakis share Celtic bromance as pair clash Stateside

Two former Celtic fan favourites have been photographed swapping shirts following the MLS All-Star game.

Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney was pictured alongside Atlanta United striker Giorgos Giakoumakis, following the London side's 5-0 win against the MLS conglomerate.

In two Instagram story posts in the aftermath of the clash, Tierney posted a picture of himself with his arm around Giakoumakis, both sticking their thumbs up for the camera.

The Greek international returned the favour, as he posted a picture of himself and the fellow Celtic alumni holding each others' respective jerseys.

Both players made positive impacts at the club respectively. Tierney made 170 appearances at Celtic over four years, winning eight domestic honours during his time at his boyhood team.

Giakoumakis scored 26 goals in 57 total appearances for Celtic, following his move from VVV-Venlo. He won two trophies in the 2021/22 season, contributing to Ange Postecoglou's first season in charge of the Glasgow side.

He joined MLS club Atlanta United in February 2023, where he has scored 10 goals so far.

Meanwhile, Celtic’s Liam Shaw is 'closing in' on a move to Wigan Athletic, according to reports.

The 22-year-old midfielder is close to a move to the Latics, as reported by Wigan Today, who are managed by former Celtic player and coach Shaun Maloney.

Shaw joined the Scottish champions in 2021 from Sheffield Wednesday, making his debut against Real Betis in the Europa League in December of that year. However, the player has found first-team opportunities hard to come by, making only one further appearance for Celtic since that game, in a 0-0 draw with St Mirren later that month.

This has led the midfielder to go out on loan on two occasions to Motherwell and Morecambe respectively. He made seven appearances in all competitions for the Steelmen in the second half of the 2021/22 season, before making 39 appearances for the Shimps.

Unfortunately, he was not able to keep the Lancashire side in League One, after finishing the season in 22nd place last season. However, he looks set for a quick return to the same league, as Maloney continues to shape his team following Wigan’s relegation from the Championship last season.
