Kids in tears outside Anfield after £600 Liverpool FC tickets didn't arrive

A dad said he felt sick after having to pay "scammers" £1,100 for Liverpool tickets.

Graham O'Mahony, along with his wife and two sons had travelled from their native Cork to watch the Reds in action. The family thought they had bought tickets to watch Liverpool play Arsenal on April 9.

Graham said he booked the tickets nine weeks in advance and spent time researching the most reliable Facebook sites to buy tickets from. However, while waiting outside the ground on the day of the match the tickets had still not been sent to him.

The dad-of-two said: "The admin of the group just kept telling me there was a delay and he had loads of tickets to sort out and I would get them. Two hours before kick-off they told us we did not have tickets.

"We had paid an extortionate amount of money for them, it was £600 and we were supposed to be seated together. I had been trying for well over a year to get tickets through the Liverpool website but it does not work."

Graham said that he then contacted another admin on the Facebook page to see if they had any tickets. They did but Graham was told he would have to pay an extra £500 on top of what he had already spent to get the tickets.

Graham told the ECHO: "It cost us £1,100 for four people to go and watch the match, we had no other way. It made me feel sick, I had my two children crying outside the ground so it was either that or I let them down.

"I travelled from a different country with my family so there was no way I would not be going. My mum bred Liverpool into me from a young age, she passed away last year and now I want to do that with my kids."

Graham believed the page he bought the tickets from was safe after looking at the comments and reviews. However, he said after posting on the page after the match complaining about his experience his comment was deleted and he was blocked.

Graham, 39 said: "They select what information is on these Facebook pages so from the outside it looks great. These people are just getting away with it.

"If I was going to give anyone advice it would be to buy hospitality tickets, I would rather give the money to the club and have that security than give my money to a scam.".

If you would like any advice on ticket touting more information can be found on the Liverpool FC website.
