Iranian Spiritual Leader Ali Khamenei criticized internal parties that stand against “a comprehensive multilateral war launched by the regime to defend its ideological identity.”

Khamenei acknowledged, for the second time this month, the existence of significant living problems in Iran, and pledged that he would solve these problems “within days”.

“There is no problem without solutions in this country,” he stated.

Addressing the Iranian Assembly of Experts on Thursday, the spiritual leader said that Iran “is engaged in a comprehensive and harsh war” at the political, economic, social, cultural and security levels.

Critics of the Iranian leader believe that his assertion of external threats was a pretext to the imposition of tight security measures, without leaving a real impact on the situation in the country.

“Of course, we are aware of the livelihood difficulties and other problems of our people, but I believe in no insurmountable problem for the country. I will speak to the people about these matters soon.” Khamenei said in his speech on Thursday.”

In mid-May, during an electoral campaign speech, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani accused his opponents of presenting false reports to Khamenei about his government’s performance. Khamenei responded a few days later, stressing that he was aware of the details and without need for mediation.

The Iranian Parliament is holding consultations with Rouhani’s representatives after deputies submitted three requests for questioning the president, due to the deterioration of the living situation, and delayed promises by the government to improve economic conditions.

Rouhani’s economic advisor, Masoud Nili, warned on Wednesday that street protests would return if the current situation continued, pointing out that the demonstrations last January was a only a notice to the political parties to recognize the existence of some of the problems.
