KEY commuter services have been cancelled or delayed due to an attempted cable theft just outside of Glasgow.
ScotRail services between Milngavie and Edinburgh are currently suspended, with services between Helensburgh and Edinburgh are only able to operate a partial route.
A signalling fault was been identified by rail infrastructure owners Network Rail between Airdrie and Caldercruix. This was later identified as being caused by an "attempted cable theft" during the night.

There has been "significant damage" to the electrical infrastructure. No expected time for the resumption of normal services was given, but another update is expected soon.
Trains can travel from Edinburgh to Bathgate, and Helensburgh to Dalmuir, with a bus replacement service in place for the connecting stops for the earlier train that had already departed before further services were cancelled.
However, the operator has warned that due to the sudden nature of the suspension, it has "very limited alternative transport secured", urging passengers to make alternative arrangements.
The Helensburgh-Edinburgh service runs through Glasgow Queen Street low level, impacting out-of-city commuters.
