Kevin Durant really was waiting for Drake after Sunday’s Game 2 win in Toronto.
Shortly following the Game 2 win, footage hit Twitter of an exchange between Durant, Klay Thompson and Drake in the tunnel of Scotiabank Arena. We saw as Durant and Thompson roasted Drake, who had suddenly gone quiet compared to his Game 1 antics (and his Game 2 attempt at trolling Durant).
But, oh man, a new angle of the exchange made it so much better.
ABC7 News was in perfect position to show Durant peeking around a corner, waiting for Drake to walk by. Once he saw the Toronto rapper, Durant playfully shouted, “See you in the Bay, Aubrey.” (Drake’s first name is Aubrey).
That view was so good. Durant was ready for the victory lap.
Plus, NBA fans waited little time to give the excellent photo the meme treatment it deserved. We knew this was going to happen — it was inevitable.
We probably won’t see a more meme-able photo all series.
The Warriors and Raptors will meet for Game 3 in Oakland on Wednesday.
