Kevin Durant is officially out for Game 3 of the NBA Finals

The Golden State Warriors are dealing with a myriad of injury concerns for some key rotation players, none more devastating than Kevin Durant.

Durant, who had been on a tear this postseason from Game 3 of the Warriors first-round series against the Los Angeles Clippers through Game 5 of their second-round series against the Houston Rockets. Durant scored at least 30 in seven of eight games with two 40-point games and a 50-point game during that stretch.

Unfortunately, Durant went down with a calf strain in Game 5 against the Rockets and hasn’t seen the court yet. According to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater, Durant will not play in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

Earlier in the series, head coach Steve Kerr said that he hoped that Durant would be back by Game 3 or 4, and now that Game 3 is out of the question, the Warriors are trying to ramp up his rehab to try to get him on the court. Durant still hasn’t practiced with the team, and was not even at the Warriors practice on Tuesday afternoon.

As far as other injuries go, Klay Thompson is still questionable with his hamstring, Kevon Looney is out for the rest of the series with a broken collar bone and Andre Iguodala is good to go for Game 3.
