Kerry Katona defends nepotism and wants to help her kids get started

Kerry Katona has defended the idea of nepotism

Kerry Katona has defended nepotism and insisted she wants to "open that door" for her kids.

The former Atomic Kitten singer loved seeing Beyonce bring up her daughters Blue Ivy and Rumi during her recent live shows, and she wants to help her own kids pursue their dreams.

She wrote in her column for new! magazine: "It was amazing to see Beyonce bring her two daughters Blue Ivy and Rumi on stage at her gigs.

"Lilly and I did panto together and Celebrity Ghost Trip, DJ has got on stage with me to dance, Max does stage rigging with me and Molly is doing a degree in acting.

"It's a family thing. People talk about nepotism. But everyone's got a contact for somebody.

"I can open that door but whether you go through is solely down to you."

The 44-year-old star has Molly Marie, 23, and Lilly-Sue, 22, with first husband Brian McFadden, Heidi, 18, and Max, 16, with Mark Croft, and daughter DJ, 10, with the late George Kay.

She also revealed that her daughter Heidi has just "done her first solo shoot" after appearing in a scene in UK reality show Celebs Go Dating.

Kerry said: "She's hilarious, and has that star quality.

"I'll be her momager. I've been around 30 years so I know how the industry works. I feel like Kris Jenner!"

Kerry - who rose to fame as a member of Atomic Kitten in the late 1990s - previously admitted having a famous mother has affected her kids.

She told new! magazine column: "It's so difficult to bring up children in the spotlight because it's like they're being catapulted into a different world.

"They aren't famous themselves but have been brought up in a world of fame and people look at them differently for that.

"I know my children have found it hard and they definitely have some issues that have arisen from it."
