THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state reported 33,538 cases from 1,02,778 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is at 32.63%.
With 247 more deaths in the past few days being recorded as Covid deaths and 197 deaths added from the appeals received, the death toll has climbed to 57,740.
The total active cases are 3,52,399, of which 3% of people are admitted either in hospitals or other treatment centres. At the same time, 46,813 patients have recovered from the disease.
Of the cases reported on the day, 32,500 were infected through local contacts and the source of infection for 651 is unknown. Among the people who had come from outside the state, 147 tested positive and 240 healthcare workers also tested positive.
Ernakulam reported the highest number of cases — 5,577, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (3,912), Kottayam (3,569), Kollam (3,321), Thrissur (2,729), Kozhikode (2,471), Malappuram (2,086), Alappuzha (2,023), Pathanamthitta (1,833), Kannur (1,807), Palakkad (1,577), Idukki (1,207), Wayanad (923) and Kasaragod (503).
The district-wise breakup of patients who tested negative are as follows Thiruvananthapuram (5,911), Kollam (5,613), Pathanamthitta (2,968), Alappuzha (2,287), Kottayam (996), Idukki (2,235), Ernakulam (9,135), Thrissur (2,704), Palakkad (3,206), Malappuram (2,927), Kozhikode (4,466), Wayanad (1,416), Kannur (2,252) and Kasaragod (697).
There are a total of 5,18,481 persons presently under observation in various districts of the state, of which 5,08,205 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 10,276 are in isolation at hospitals.
