THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state on Saturday reported 3,262 new positive cases from the 41,753 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate has become 7.81%.
With 65 more deaths that occurred in the past few days being recorded as Covid deaths, and 116 deaths added from the appeals received, the total deaths in the state have now become 65,161.
There are a total of 32,980 active cases in the state of which 7.2% people are admitted either in the hospitals or in the other treatment centres. At the same time, 7,339 patients have recovered from the disease.
Of the cases reported on Saturday, 3,065 were due to infection from local contacts and the source of infection for 148 cases were unknown. Of the new cases, 17 patients had come from outside the state and 32 were health care workers.
Thiruvananthapuram reported the highest number of 638 cases followed by Ernakulam 523, Kottayam 314, Kollam 268, Thrissur 235, Kozhikode 232, Idukki 161, Pathanamthitta 159, Alappuzha 155, Malappuram 128, Palakkad 127, Kannur 122, Wayanad 108 and Kasaragod 63.
The district-wise break of those who turned negative are: Thiruvananthapuram (685), Kollam (219), Pathanamthitta (318), Alappuzha (479), Kottayam (790), Idukki (710), Ernakulam (1,486), Thrissur (714), Palakkad (351), Malappuram (448), Kozhikode (624), Wayanad (330), Kannur (70) and Kasaragod (115).
There are a total of 1,11,564 persons presently under observation in various districts of the state of which 1,09,157 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 2,407 are in isolation at hospitals.
