THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state has reported 22,524 cases from 78,682 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate (TPR) has come down to 28.62%.
With 127 more deaths in the past few days being recorded as Covid deaths and 733 deaths added from the appeals received, the death toll has climbed to 59,115. Of the total deaths reported till date, 22,432 deaths have been declared as per the appeals received based on the Supreme Court order.
The total active cases are 3,01,424, of which 3.2% of people are admitted either in hospitals or in other treatment centres. At the same time, 49,586 patients have recovered from the disease.
The total number of positive cases reported till date has reached 62,93,907, of which 59,32,609 have recovered. Among these, people who had history of contact with Covid positive patients are 62,19,427. The total number of people under hospital isolation now is 9,384. Among these, 1,311 are in ICUs of different hospitals in the state and 338 are on ventilator support.
Of the new cases, 21,033 got infected through local contacts and the source for 1,207 cases is unknown. Among the people who had come from outside the state, 114 tested positive and 170 healthcare workers have also tested positive on the day.
Thiruvananthapuram reported the maximum number of cases — 3493, followed by Ernakulam (3,490), Kottayam (2,786), Kollam (2,469), Thrissur (1,780), Kozhikode (1,612), Malappuram (1,218), Alappuzha (1,109), Pathanamthitta (1,053), Kannur (1,031), Palakkad (816), Idukki (737), Wayanad (617) and Kasaragod (313).
The district-wise breakup of patients who tested negative is as follows — Ernakulam (8,943), Thrissur (7,038), Thiruvananthapuram (4,739), Kottayam (4,400), Kollam (4,365), Kozhikode (3,970), Palakkad (3,387), Alappuzha (2,802), Idukki (2,486), Malappuram (2,185), Pathanamthitta (1,950), Kannur (1,572), Wayanad (1,296) and Kasaragod (433).
There are 4,74,949 persons presently under observation in various districts, of which 4,65,565 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 9,384 are in isolation at hospitals.
