THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state reported 42,154 Covid-positive cases of the 99,410 samples tested in the previous 24 hours on Monday. The test positivity rate is at 42.4%.
With 10 more deaths in the past few days being recorded as Covid-19 deaths and 638 deaths added from the appeals received, the death toll now stands at 54,395. Total active cases have increased to 3,57,552, of which 3.2% people are admitted either in hospitals or in other treatment centres.
At the same time, 38,458 patients have recovered from the infection.
Of the new cases, 38,406 people were infected through local contacts and the source is not known for 3,234 cases. Of those who arrived from outside the state, 174 tested positive for Covid, and 340 healthcare workers were also infected.
Ernakulam with 9,453 reported the highest number of cases, followed by Thrissur (6,177), Kozhikode (4,074), Thiruvananthapuram (3,271), Kottayam (2,840), Kollam (2,817), Palakkad (2,718), Malappuram (2,463), Alappuzha (2,074), Kannur (1,572), Idukki (1,451), Pathanamthitta (1,338), Wayanad (1,062) and Kasaragod (844). The number of patients who tested negative are Thiruvananthapuram (6,827), Kollam (2,353), Pathanamthitta (2,244), Alappuzha (1,541), Kottayam (1,099), Idukki (1,317), Ernakulam (7,632), Thrissur (4,538), Palakkad (2,121), Malappuram (2,165), Kozhikode (2,805), Wayanad (927), Kannur (1,260) and Kasaragod (1,629).
There are a total of 5,37,909 persons presently under observation in various districts of which 5,25,238 are isolating at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 12,637 are in isolation at hospitals.
