THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state reported 966 Covid-positive cases of the 25,946 samples tested in the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The test positivity rate has become 3.72%.
With 12 more deaths in the past few days being recorded as Covid deaths and 38 deaths added from the appeals received, the death toll is 67,008. Total active cases are 7,536, of which 9.6% people are admitted either in hospitals or in other treatment centres. As many as 1,444 patients have recovered from the infection.
Of the new cases, 916 people were infected through local contacts and the source of 42 cases is not known. Among those who arrived from outside the state, four tested positive. Also, four healthcare workers tested Covid positive.
Ernakulam with 200 reported the highest number of cases, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (130), Kollam (102), Kottayam (102), Thrissur (74), Kozhikode (71), Idukki (67), Pathanamthitta (65), Alappuzha (34), Kannur (34), Malappuram (34), Palakkad (23), Wayanad (21) and Kasaragod (9).
Presently, 22,834 persons are under observation in various districts, of which 2,23,053 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 781 are in isolation at hospitals.
