Kerala Puraskaram: IT Mission develops nomination platform

The State IT Mission has developed an online platform to invite the nominations for Kerala Puraskaram, the highest civilian honour conferred by the Kerala government in any field of human endeavour.

The Cabinet had last year decided to institute the State awards on the lines of the Padma awards presented nationally for exemplary contribution to various fields.

The State awards, titled Kerala Puraskarangal, will be given away in three categories—‘Kerala Jyothi,’ ‘Kerala Prabha,’ and ‘Kerala Sree'. The Kerala Jyothi award will be presented to one individual in a year. The Kerala Prabha award will be given away to two persons, and Kerala Sree to five. The nominations will be accepted online at www.keralapuraskaram.kerala.gov.in, the online platform developed by the IT Mission. The platform gives a benchmark that compares performance across sectors.

People in government service cannot be nominated, except doctors and scientists. The nominating person should not be related to the nominee. The nominations can be done from till June 30. Helpline Numbers: 0471-2518531,0471-2518223. The awards are expected to be announced on November 1, Kerala Piravi Day.
