Kerala: Man injured in jumbo attack dies in Thrissur

THRISSUR: A 51-year-old man from Vettilappara who was injured in the recent elephant attack near Athirappilly died on Friday. Preliminary reports indicated that the victim, Vettilappara Nedumba Veettil Jayan, fainted to death at his son-in-law’s house at Mala Puthenchira.

Family sources said Jayan’s postmortem will be performed at Thrissur medical college hospital on Saturday, and the exact cause of death will be known only after that.

Jayan’s five-year-old granddaughter Aagnimiya was killed in that elephant attack on February 7. Even though Jayan did not suffer critical injuries in the attack, he was in a state of shock after witnessing the elephant trampling his granddaughter to death. His son-in-law Nikhil was also injured in the attack. But he was discharged from the hospital.
