THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state reported 1,223 positive Covid-19 cases out of the 23,641 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate has become 5.17%. With 24 more deaths that occurred in the past few days being recorded as Covid-19 deaths and 59 deaths added from the appeals received, the total death toll in the state now stands at 66,263.
The total active cases are 12,868 of which 10% are admitted either in hospitals or other treatment centres. At the same time, 2,424 patients recovered from the virus during the 24-hour period.
Of the cases reported in the day, 1,107 got infected through local contact while the source is unknown for 101 cases.
Among those who arrived from outside the state, three were tested positive. Meanwhile, 12 healthcare workers were also tested positive for the virus.
Ernakulam reported the highest number of cases at 227 followed by Thiruvananthapuram 148, Kottayam 128, Thrissur 114, Kollam 110, Kozhikode 99, Idukki 82, Pathanamthitta 71, Kannur 57, Palakkad 53, Malappuram 44, Alappuzha 39, Wayanad 28 and Kasaragod 23.
