Kenny Willekes named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

Another day, another weekly award for Kenny Willekes. Yesterday, Kenny was given the Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week Award and this morning he was just named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Willekes earned his first career touchdown against Tulsa off a fumble recovery to go along with 7 tackles (2.5 for loss) and 1.5 sacks. Oh, he also had a second fumble recovery as well. Yeah, if he stays healthy, Kenny is going to have a scary season and I doubt this will be the last weekly award to go his way.

Willekes was a big part of MSU setting a school record by holding Tulsa to minus-73 yards rushing.

The other Big Ten award winners this week were Running Back Jonathon Taylor from Wisconsin, Indiana Kicker Logan Justus, and Freshman QB Michael Penix Jr. from Indiana.
