Sir Kenneth Branagh and Ciarán Hinds are out of Covid isolation and will attend the 94th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday night, it is being reported.

Hinds, who is nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for 'Belfast', along with Branagh had both tested positive for coronavirus and were understood to be isolating in New York.

Stars of the film Jamie Dornan and Catriona Balfe are also due to attend the Oscars ceremony.

It was understood Branagh would send a pre-recorded acceptance speech if he was not be able to attend the Academy Awards in person.

The director was unable to make an appearance at a Producers Guild Awards (PGA) event on Saturday and participated virtually instead.

This will be the first in-person Academy Awards since just before the pandemic in February 2020, as in 2021 it was held mostly virtually.

All guests at this year's Oscars will be asked to submit negative Covid-19 tests and proof of vaccination.

Presenters and performers will not have to be vaccinated but will have to show they have recently tested negative for the virus.

Here are the nominations to keep an eye out for at Sunday's Oscar ceremony:

  • Best Supporting Actress - Judi Dench

  • Best Sound - Belfast

  • Best Original Screenplay - Kenneth Branagh

  • Best Supporting Actor - Ciaran Hinds

  • Best Song - 'Down To Joy' by Van Morrison

  • Best Director - Kenneth Branagh

This year's ceremony will kick off at 8pm on Sunday Eastern Time in the US which is 1am here in the early hours of Monday, March 28.
