Hanging pots and pans is a time-old tradition for making cooking easier and keeping cabinets uncluttered. This technique has appeared in some of the world's most stylish celebrity homes, from Jennifer Lopez to Victoria Beckham. Now, Kendall Jenner presents a new take on the storage method.
Kendall Jenner's vertical kitchen storage incorporates a bar that hangs in a square around her central light fixture over her island. Hooks hang down from the bar, holding a variety of copper pots and pans.
This hanging storage idea, no doubt dreamt up by her talented team at Clements Design and Waldo's Design, is brilliant. Not only does it make use of the empty space above the island that would otherwise go unused, but it also introduces an element of characterful, traditional design into the modern kitchen.

These kitchen racks not only add a decorative touch to your walls but also offer practical storage, keeping cooking supplies and utensils within easy reach.

This pan brings a striking touch to any kitchen while remaining lightweight, nonstick, scratch-resistant, and dishwasher safe. Its innovative Ti-Cerama coating ensures food releases effortlessly without the need for oil or butter.

Hanging rack aside, this large glass jar with a black metal lid offers ample storage and adds a stylish touch to any countertop, just like Kendall's.
Experts favor Jenner's method of maximizing kitchen storage for its balance of style and functionality.
For instance, Laura Watson, design expert at IKEA, always recommends display storage, especially for small kitchens. She states: 'Floating shelves and hooks can be both functional and visually appealing. Vertical storage solutions utilize otherwise wasted wall space while displaying items that reflect your personality. This also helps to keep the floor area clear, avoiding the room feeling cluttered.'
To replicate her method, start with a rail. If you have an open space above your island, you can mount the railing in the same way as seen here, as a square on the ceiling. If you have a different kitchen shape, a wall railing is a beautiful alternative. I love the look of a pot hanger over a stovetop or layered over a countertop.
To update the rails for functionality, you can add an 'S' shaped hook (like this one from Amazon) to the rails to hang the pots from. Like Kendall, you can choose copper pots to add a country kitchen look to the railing.
Hammered copper pots could also be good for adding interesting texture. Alternatively, chrome silver pots would create a more modern look.
As you consider your display, think seasonally. Copperware adds a warm, inviting feel, which pairs beautifully with the richer tones and heavier cooking associated with fall and winter. In contrast, perhaps when the lighter fare of spring and summer is on the menu, keeping frequently used stainless steel or lighter items visible might suit your flow.
Vertical storage is a wonderful way to use dead space and enhance the design of a kitchen. Kendall Jenner's space is the perfect example.
