Kendall Jenner and her Marc Jacobs Kiki boots are having a moment

Marc Jacobs’ spring 2023 campaign brings together a league of fashion legends as Tyrone Lebon shoots Kendall Jenner and Irina Shayk in (almost) nothing but his signature Kiki boots, styled by ID Editor-in-Chief Alastair McKimm.

Photographed in Los Angeles, the images feature Jenner and Shayk sporting slicked-back hair and glowing skin with all of Lebon’s signature sex appeal. (Think his Miu Miu SS22 campaign featuring Hailey Bieber in the viral micro-mini, and a tousled Gigi Hadid for Self Portrait SS23.)

The boots do all the talking, worn only with black underwear and sheer tights. Originally debuted in the Marc Jacobs’ AW16 collection, the Kikis feature a ladder of buckled straps and sky-high platforms. Jenner crouches on hers, staring moodily into the camera, while Shayk has her feet in the air, sprawled alongside one of the brand’s signature pink Bucket Pouches.

The Kiki boots are having a serious moment, with Kate Moss wearing them in Marc Jacobs’ resort 2022/2023 campaign while reviving her famous Nineties pink hairstyle. Captured by Harley Weir, her dead-straight locks are the exact fluro shade they were when she stepped out on Versace’s SS 1999 catwalk. Juergen Teller made future Tumblr royalty when he captured Moss’ strawberry strands fanned out on her pillow in his 1998 photo “Young Pink Kate”.

In 2022 the Kiki boots were reimagined for Marc Jacobs’ Heaven brand, and modelled with fishnets by Nicki Minaj in the Weir-shot campaign. Jenner and Shayk are only the latest additions to the Kiki boots’ impressive hall of fame.

Marc Jacobs’ SS23 ready-to-wear show in New York on February 3 was a tribute to Vivienne Westwood with a new wave of mega-platforms. The ‘Heroes’ collection runway was crawling with skyscrapers in a rainbow of shades, from lemon yellow to Kate-hair-pink. No look went without a pair, worn with everything from oversized cargo pants to fur coats in contrasting muted tones.
