Kemar Roofe Rangers return date set after lengthy lay-off as Alex Lowry approaches full fitness

Kemar Roofe is set to make his return to Rangers action when they line up against Dundee in the Premier Sports Cup.

The Jamaican international hasn’t played for the Light Blues since the end of last season as he battled injury but recent photos have shown him back in the thick of training with manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.

It’s been a bruising week of criticism at Ibrox after a 7-1 loss to Liverpool in the Champions League and a 2-1 Premiership success over Motherwell did little to quell the noise. But their quest to reach Hampden will be aided by the return of Roofe, who will rival Antonio Colak and Alfredo Morelos for a starting slot. Another boost will come in the form of Alex Lowry, who will play for the B team after his injury troubles at the start of this season.
