Keith Butler shares his excitement for the Steelers drafted Devin Bush

In listening to Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator speak during minicamp, it is clear he’s happy the front office got linebacker Devin Bush. Every DC wants a player like Bush who can impact the defense in so many different ways.

But something Butler said in the interview below got us thinking about the inevitable comparisons to come between Bush and Devin White.

“I’m glad Kevin did what he did,” Butler said. “We knew what we wanted going into the draft. They had a pretty good idea. The guys we wanted were both of the Devins.”

White ended up being picked five picks earlier by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It seems, judging by what Butler said, this pick set things in motion for Pittsburgh to go up and get Bush.

Both players are tremendous. But you can bet if White comes out of the gate faster than Bush, comparisons will come. There will be questions of whether or not the Steelers drafted the right Devin and if they were aggressive enough in their trade up.

The best thing that can happen is Butler just unleashes Bush on the rest of the league and coaches with far less restraint than last season. Both of these young linebackers have the potential to be stars and considering the different schemes they are going into, any comparisons should be taken with a grain of salt.
