KCET Result 2026: KEA explains why some students didn't get ranks, announces 5-day process for getting spot rank

Students whose KCET (UGCET) 2026 ranks were not published along with the results have been given relief by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). The authority has clarified that the issue is linked to missing academic information and not to eligibility. KEA has now opened a special process that will allow affected candidates to submit the required details and receive their ranks within five days.

KEA Explains Why Some KCET Ranks Were Not Announced

According to KEA Executive Director H. Prasanna, IAS, ranks were withheld only for candidates who had not uploaded their Class 12 or qualifying examination marks while filling out the application form.

The problem largely affects students studying under CBSE, ICSE and other boards outside the Karnataka state board system. Since KEA does not automatically receive marks data from these boards, candidates were required to enter their marks manually and upload supporting documents during the application process.

As a result, students who skipped this step could not be assigned a rank when the KCET 2026 results were released.

Documentation Issue, Not an Eligibility Problem

KEA has stressed that the missing ranks are related only to incomplete documentation. The authority clarified that affected candidates should not assume that they have become ineligible for admission.

The clarification comes as many students and parents expressed concern after finding that ranks had not been displayed despite qualifying in the examination.

KEA Opens Special Window for Spot Rank

To address the issue quickly, KEA has activated a dedicated online facility where students can submit their pending academic details.

Candidates must log in through the link provided by KEA, enter their qualifying examination marks and upload their official marksheet. After verification, the authority will generate a "Spot Rank" and publish it within five days.

KEA has urged students to complete the process at the earliest to avoid delays during the admission phase.

Official Update Shared by KEA

KEA also issued a public message asking affected candidates to upload their marks immediately.

Rank…"

KCET Rank: How Candidates Can Submit Their Details

Students whose ranks are missing should follow these steps:

Visit the official KEA portal.

Enter their Class 12 or qualifying examination marks.

Upload the marksheet and required documents.

Submit the information for verification.

Once KEA completes the review process, the authority will issue the corresponding rank.

KEA Urges Students Not to Delay

The examination authority has advised candidates to upload their academic records without waiting. Timely submission of documents will help ensure that eligible students receive their ranks and can participate in the admission process without unnecessary hurdles.
