Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom apparently got into an “explosive” argument about *that* viral trip to space, amid rumours that the couple’s relationship is already on the rocks.
The claims come from an inside source who told The Daily Mail that Bloom was, like legions of other onlookers, a little less than impressed with Perry’s Blue Origin space flight back in April.
ICYMI, the singer was part of an all-female crew who made the star-bound trip at the behest of Blue Origin owner Jeff Bezos, and apparently Bloom was one of many people who found the whole ordeal “embarrassing”.
“He told her the whole thing looked ridiculous,” a source from Perry’s camp told Daily Mail.
“He said it was cringeworthy. Embarrassing.”
The insider claimed Bloom made the comments “in the middle of a fight” with Perry, who was apparently left “hurt” by her partner’s lack of support.
“It hurt her feelings,” the source said.
“Of course she was hurt. Imagine going to space — motherfucking space — and your partner isn’t impressed. She hoped he’d be more supportive.”
Adding fuel to the speculative fire, the insider claimed the tensions were only heightened by Bezos’ upcoming wedding to Lauren Sánchez, since only Bloom will be attending while Perry skips the nuptials to continue her current Australian tour.
“Katy feels like [Bezos and Sánchez] are really her friends more than his, and yet he’s the one going to the wedding,” the source said.
Apparently, Bloom’s “insistence” on attending the billionaire’s star-studded wedding to Sánchez, who was also aboard 11-minute space flight, was particularly irksome for Perry given his previous comments about her aspiring astronaut status.
“[Bloom] complains about her going to space, and then wants to go to the wedding of the people who made it possible for her to do this in the first place,” the insider said.
Reports of the argument come amid mounting speculation that Perry and Bloom, who’ve been engaged since 2019, are headed for a split.
Those rumours reached fever pitch earlier this month, when Perry performed her years-old break-up song “I’m Still Breathing” at the Sydney stop of her Lifetimes Australian tour.
Then, last week, Perry was spotted without her engagement ring at a Poof Doof event in Melbourne, further fuelling speculation that she and Bloom are donezo after almost ten years as a couple.
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but perhaps Perry’s trip 100 kilometres above the earth’s surface was a little too much for the heart to bear.
