Katy Perry denies 'dangerous lies' after Ruby Rose makes shock assault claim

Ruby Rose has alleged that she was “sexually assaulted” by Katy Perry during an incident at a nightclub in Melbourne, claims the singer’s representatives have strongly denied.

The actor made the allegation on social media, responding to a post about Perry’s reaction to Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance.

“Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a shit what she thinks,” Rose wrote.

In a statement to Variety, a representative for Perry dismissed the claim, saying: “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies.

“Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”

The alleged incident, according to Rose, took place when she was in her early twenties.

In subsequent posts, she described the encounter in detail and said she had previously spoken about it publicly but framed it as a “funny little drunk story” at the time.

“After it I threw up on her, I told the story publicly but changed it to be a ‘funny little drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it,” she wrote.

“Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person.”

“I was only in my early 20s,” Rose added. “I’m now 40. It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly.

“Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes.”

She also said she was “not interested in filing a report”, writing: “You don’t need people to believe you, you just need to get it out of your poor body, before it gives you cancer.”

The claims surfaced as Perry attended the Coachella music festival alongside her partner, former Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, where she shared her reaction to Justin Bieber’s headline performance on social media.

“Thank god he has Premium. I don’t wanna see no ads,” she said in a social media video. The claim was made in response to a Complex social media post featuring Perry’s reaction, which prompted Rose to share her allegation.
