Katie Taylor homecoming: Kellie Harrington would love to fight on 3Arena card

Kellie Harrington has revealed she would love to fight on the Katie Taylor v Chantelle Cameron bill - since it is taking place just a stone's throw from her family home.

Taylor's long-awaited homecoming bout is pencilled in for the 3Arena in Dublin's docklands on May 20.

Tokyo gold medallist Harrington, who hails from nearby Portland Row, says she would jump at the chance to follow Taylor's lead from March 2009 at the same venue.

The Bray legend boxed as an amateur on the undercard of Bernard Dunne's world title fight against Ricardo Cordoba.

"I do remember it well," said Harrington of that night. "I remember it very well."

The 33-year-old is currently preparing for the upcoming European championships that will double up as a Paris Olympics qualifier.

Asked if she would like to take part in an exhibition fight at the 9,000 capacity venue, Harrington replied: "When you say as an exhibition fight, an amateur exhibition fight?

"Yeah, I never thought about it until you said it there, to be honest with you.

"If I was asked, I’d bite the hand off someone to have a fight down the road from me gaff. Absolutely, like.

"As an amateur, never as a pro, though. Always as an amateur."

And Harrington laughed when asked if she had been in touch with promoters Matchroom about getting tickets for the May 20 fight night.

"If I’m not fighting, probably," she smiled.

"I doubt that I will be fighting, by the way…but sure look....".
