Katie Price breaks silence after arrest insisting she still has 'sparkle and drive'

Katie Price has broken her silence following her arrest with an Instagram update.

The former glamour model, 43, took to Instagram on Sunday evening to insist that she's still got her 'sparkle and drive' as she looks forward to an exciting week ahead.

The mum-of-five also teased an exciting announcement as she shared a glimpse of her sparkling new converse trainers.

Katie's Instagram update comes days after her arrest following her alleged breach of a restraining order.

The TV star could now be facing a five-year prison sentence.

Katie was arrested on Friday night after police received a report that she'd sent an expletive-ridden message to her former husband Kieran Hayler and his fiancée Michelle Penticost.

In August 2018, Katie was accused of screaming abuse at Kieran’s now fiancée Michelle Pentecost at the school gates. She appeared in court the following June and was given a five-year restraining order.

She has been released from custody while investigations continue, and the allegations against her could have some serious consequences because of the suspended sentence she was given last month.

In December, Katie was given a 16-week prison term suspended for 12 months and 100 hours of community service after pleading guilty at Crawley Magistrates' Court to drink-driving, driving without insurance and while banned from the roads.

A judge told her at the time that she was lucky to not be spending Christmas behind bars.

Announcing her sentence, District Judge Amanda Kelly said: "When you chose to get behind the wheel that night you showed no concern for others.

"You could have killed somebody. Your actions meant the emergency services had to use up their precious time. You knowingly and deliberately flouted a court order and not for the first time.

"You seem to think you are above the law."

In UK law, it is a criminal offence to breach a restraining order, and if she's found to have committed another offence Katie could be sent to prison.

If the offence is tried in a Magistrates' Court, the maximum penalty that can be handed down is a six-month imprisonment.

But if the either-way offence is tried in a Crown Court before a jury, the maximum penalty jumps to five years behind bars.

The Sentencing Council says "the nature of the new offence will become the court’s primary consideration when assessing the action to be taken on the breach."

It adds: "The court will also look at how far the offender has – or has not – complied with the requirements of the suspended sentence order."

This weekend, Katie is alleged to have breached the restraining order by branding Michelle a "c***ing w***e piece of s***" and a "gutter s**g" in a text message, The Sun reports.

A source close to Michelle's family told the publication: "Although the message was sent to Kieran, they both felt it was addressed to Michelle. So they got in touch with the police.

"Michelle is absolutely devastated, and feels very threatened. The message was incredibly aggressive.

"Given the restraining order that’s in place, and the fact Katie is still on a suspended sentence, it’s extraordinary she decided to lash out like this — unprovoked, too."

The Mirror has reached out to Katie's representatives for comment on this story.
