Kate Middleton wows with £18 earrings from Zara at Baftas 2023

Kate Middleton looked stunning as she donned a pair of £18 Zara earrings for the 2023 Baftas. The Prince and Princess of Wales joined hundreds of people from the film world for the awards ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall on Sunday evening (Feb 19).

Kate, 41, opted for an Alexander McQueen one shoulder gown for the occasion, which she first wore to the event in 2019. But it was the cascading gold earrings costing less than £20 that added a touch of affordable glamour to the outfit.

The Princess is famous for her love of high street brands, regularly wearing pieces from Zara, and mixing affordable labels with designer pieces. She has long been a fan of high street brand Zara, and often steps out in items from the Spanish retailer for events.

Zara describes the earrings online as "floral-shaped metal dangle earrings with rhinestone appliqué". They have a push-back closure.

It was the first time in three years that the royal couple had attended the Baftas. Prince William has been the president of Bafta since 2010 and Kate first attended the event with her husband in 2017.

For his outfit, William kept things classic and simple in a double-breasted black velvet tuxedo jacket. Kate sported glamorous make-up with a pink lipstick and a dark smoky eye.

Her stunning white on-shoulder gown contrasted with a pair of long black gloves. She has worn Alexander McQueen – one of her favourite fashion brands – on numerous occasions, most notably choosing its creative director Sarah Burton to design her wedding dress.

During the ceremony, a pre-recorded tribute was paid by Dame Helen Mirren, who played the late monarch in the 2006 biopic The Queen. William and Kate watched from the centre of the front row as Dame Helen said: “Cinema at its best does what Her Majesty did effortlessly – bring us together and unite us through a story. Your Majesty, you were our nation’s leading star.”

The awards ceremony saw All Quiet On The Western Front break Cinema Paradiso’s record for the highest number of BAFTAs for a foreign language film.

The German language anti-war epic, directed by German filmmaker Edward Berger and based on the 1929 novel of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque, scooped seven prizes at the EE Bafta film awards including best film and best director to pass the record of five set by the Italian coming-of-age drama in 1988.
