Kate Middleton's brilliant response when pal tells her she's lucky to have William

The young Prince William really did seem to have it all.

As well as being the future King, he was handsome, intelligent and caring - so it's hardly surprising that he had lots of women after him.

The love of his life turned out to be Kate Middleton, a university housemate and friend, and people thought she was a very lucky lady.

But when one of the now-Duchess's friends put this point to her, she had a brilliant response, reports RSVP Live .

Meghan Markle's decision to keep royal baby private is 'slap in the face', claims commentator

During their university days at St Andrews, a friend told Kate how lucky she was to be going out with Prince William.

Smiling, Kate simply replied: "He's lucky to have me."

After a brief split William finally got down on one knee in 2010, to which Charles famously commented: "They have been practising long enough."

In her book The Making of a Royal Romance, royal expert Katie Nicholl claims William vowed he would never be pressured into marriage before he was ready.

Prince William works out with school mums after dropping kids off - at same gym Diana went to

She claims he learnt from his parents ill-fated relationship and was determined he wouldn't do the same.

She writes: "He was aware his father had been pressured into marrying Diana because she was deemed the suitable bride.

"He was reluctant to bow to similar pressure and vowed not to be hurried at the altar. He made his feelings clear, telling a journalist in an off-guard moment that he had no plans of getting married any time soon."

The couple tied the knot at Westminster Abbey in April 2011.

The Duchess seemed to adapt to life in the Royal Family quickly and is now a pro, and she will soon have to start teaching the couple's three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis the ropes.
