Kate Garraway exclaims 'you're not talking to me' as ITV Good Morning Britain's protest debate descends into chaos

Kate Garraway was left trying to simmer down a debate about protests on the show when she hit back: "You're not talking to me." The presenter was back on Good Morning Britain on Thursday (April 20) days after a rare, emotional, night out with her husband Derek Draper.

She was at the helm of the ITV news programme alongside Adil Ray when they were joined by Extinction Rebellion's Clare Farrell and Just Stop Oil's James Skeet to debate whether 'disruptive eco protests work'. It comes after Extinction Rebellion vowed to protect the upcoming London Marathon from disorder so the 45,000 runners can compete.

It also comes days after the World Snooker Championship was disrupted on Monday after a Just Stop Oil protester climbed on a table and covered it in orange powder during a game between Robert Milkins and Joe Perry.

But the debate soon descended into chaos, with everyone speaking over one another, forcing Kate, 55, to step in as she interjected at one point: "Now, the public doesn't like what you are doing, you are not winning hearts."

James then replied: "It's a disgrace what is happening in the country and I think a lot of people agree with that. But a lot is to do with the systemic failure of this government to actually deal with the problems which are before it." The debate continued to escalate, with Adil probing James over Just Stop Oil ruining the recent World Snooker Championship.

But James ended up raging at Adil over wildfires and it was again left to Kate to try and bring the conversation back into line, telling him: "The purpose of this debate... We've had thousands of people saying they don't want disruption because they feel they are under pressure and you are breaking the little person to save the planet...

"Do you have in your head, 'OK, someone is going to be disrupted, it will be a pain for them, but we have to go for the bigger picture?'" To which James replied: "I feel like whenever I have these conversations I feel like I am speaking to someone with six inches of cotton wool wrapped around their head."

Kate then clapped back: "You're not talking to me? I've got cotton wool inside my head? We are talking about how the two different groups have made a decision to engage hearts and minds." And despite the debate continuing to rage on, both Kate and Adil had to bring it to an end so they could move on with the rest of the programme.
