Kate Garraway emotional as she prepares to see husband for first time in four months

Kate Garraway has revealed she is preparing to see her husband for the first time after four incredibly tough months.

Her other half Derek Draper has been in hospital since the end of March after being struck down by coronavirus and then being put into a medically induced coma.

His body has been ravaged by the virus and Derek remains in intensive care, with Kate and the couple's children Billy and Darcy unable to visit him.

But on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain, host Kate told Ben Shephard and millions of viewers at home that she will soon be reunited with him.

She said: ""I might be able to go and visit Derek today!

"In fact the nurses are going to put GMB on for him - they have a TV - and they’re going to put it on for him this morning.

"They forgot I was on yesterday - they're going to see if he can hear anything."

Last week, Kate opened up about the fact that, while Derek has now opened his eyes on numerous occasions, he has a long recovery ahead of him, explaining: "It's great that there are some flickers of hope.

"His lungs are starting to recover a little bit, his kidneys are doing better, his liver is doing better - but they don't know how much better it can get.

"They don't know how much better he can get and there's just nothing to compare it with."

"The problem is, is that it's a new disease which nobody knows. There is no data."
