Kate Garraway discovers sweet gesture shared with Derek Draper is gone live on ITV Good Morning Britain

Kate Garraway was left surprised after a sweet gesture between her and husband Derek Draper disappeared.

The TV presenter was back on Good Morning Britain on Thursday alongside Ben Shephard.

Throughout the latest edition of the early morning news programme, the hosts checked in with co-star Andi Peters, who has been in Paris as she promotes ITV's latest competition.

Kate and Ben chatted to Andi as he appeared on the Pont des Arts which was well known for being the French capital's love lock bridge.

He explained that the bridge, which was once home to many "locks of love" was no more as they had all been removed in favour of new perspex barriers.

It was reported at the time that around forty-five tonnes of metal padlocks were removed from the bridge after Paris health officials said that "the romantic gestures cause long-term heritage degradation and danger to visitors."

Jumping in as Andi spoke about the removal, Kate said: "Derek and I have a padlock on that bridge..." to which Ben, 47, replied: "Not anymore."

Undeterred from her point, the 54-year-old continued: "It says Mr and Mrs Draper..."

"No not anymore, Andi has said they've all been taken away," Ben reiterated before asking: "Were you not listening?"

"I know that they take them away periodically," Kate replied.

Ben said: "No they've stopped people doing it."

Not listening to her co-star, Kate instructed: "Have a look, Andi."

The competition presenter then moved down the bridge where a couple of locks still remained and said: "Now Kate, they've taken all of them away but there are four here... look three that people have put on.

"Look Kate, wouldn't it be great if I could find yours but they have all gone."

"I tell you what, where have they put them all? Do you want to dive in for a swim?" Kate joked.

Kate had earlier given a fresh update on her husband Derek ahead of a new documentary about his recovery from coronavirus.

Caring for Derek follows the mum-of-two's previous film, Finding Derek, and will show the former Labour lobbyist after he returned to their family home over a year after being admitted to hospital with Covid symptoms.
