Kate Garraway was left red in the face on Good Morning Britain as she attempted to sneak back into the studio without being caught as she returned late from a bathroom break.
Thursday (30 July) morning’s episode saw Garraway and her co-host Adil Ray talking through the major news stories of the day, before chatting to Strictly Come Dancing stars Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu in a more light-hearted segment.
As GMB returned from a mid-episode advert break, the camera panned in to show Gu and Dowden sat on the sofa opposite Ray, with Garraway notably absent.
Ray then began quizzing the professional dancers about their upcoming appearance on Channel 4 show reality show Celebrity Hunted, in which pairs of famous friends are forced to “go on the run” and travel off the grid without getting caught in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.
Ray spent around a minute speaking to Dowden and Gu alone, with Welsh dancer Dowden beginning to explain the show’s premise before saying: “Morning” to Garraway, who had attempted to sneak onto the sofa.
Garraway then admitted: “I took a little bit too long in the shower and the loo,” with Ray jokingly quipping based on the day’s hot weather headlines: “She hasn’t heard about the drought and the short showers. It’s alright, we’re here now.”
“So sorry,” Garraway said, as she struggled to hold back her laughter.
Airing live from 6am until 9am every day, ITV’s flagship breakfast news programme is no stranger to on-air blunders from its presenters and guests alike.
Just days after a reporter was caught yawning on camera during an outside broadcast when a technical issue meant he couldn’t hear the feed from the studio, Garraway was forced to apologise about another incident on the show.
During Friday (24 July) morning’s episode, Garraway and co-host Rob Rinder were discussing Edinburgh’s new tourist levy with City of Edinburgh Council leader Jane Meagher.
However, the interview was momentarily derailed when a man appeared in the background and made a reverse V-sign towards the camera.
Interrupting the discussion, Garraway addressed the incident, telling viewers: “Just to say, Jane, you won’t be aware because you were talking so elegantly to us with the gorgeous vision of Edinburgh behind.
“But somebody came past doing a rather rude gesture. So, if you’re watching at home and you saw, that is no reflection on Jane or indeed Edinburgh.”
